Augustus Caesar's Tournament of Champions II
Think last times tourny only in August!.. lol


The rules are simple:
  • Maps are yet to be determined, although the list of maps further down may be the ones played. Maps may vary.
  • Players will be fighting 15 minute NHUA ATTRITION games, ONE 30 Minute NHUA Attrition and a final round of TEAM ATTRITION
  • Chaining/Grouping Weapons is Allowed
  • NO INTENTIONAL LEGGING ALLOWED
  • The 2 players with the lowest scores at the end of each 15 minute game will be eliminated
  • Eliminated players will be allowed to participate in further rounds but their scores will not increase from the moment of elimination
  • Rounds will be fought until only 2 players remain!
  • In the final round, the two remaining mech players form teams from the eliminated pilots. The two top players are the Commanders for each team. The final round then plays out as a Team Battle!


For the Final Team Battle *F5 rules or Timed:
The goal of the Final Round is to be the first Team to kill the opposing Commander 5 times (or the most times in the allotted time). Thus, the goal is to attack the other commander AND Defend your Commander. This forces each team to decide (as in CTF) who stays to defend and who goes out to attack. Or maybe the commander decides to take his whole crew over to the enemy to attack. It should lead to interesting tactics. **



The Tournament starts at 9pm EST, Sunday, 8-30-9 .




Round 1: 15 Minutes -Map- Coliseum
Round 2: 15 Minutes -Map- Gatorbait
Round 3: 15 Minutes -Map- Frostbite
Round 4: 15 Minutes -Map- Dustbowl
Round 5: 30 Minutes -Map- Timberline
Round 6: 15 Minutes -Map- Wetlands
Round 7: 15 Minutes -Map- Brawl Crater
Round 8: 15 Minutes -Map- Inner City
Round 9: 30 Minutes -Map- Yet to be determined. Either: TEAM Palace Gates / Inner City / Lunacy / Gatorbait

The Lucky Dog Pass
Server will remain UNLOCKED for the first round of the tournament. Due to someone always disconnecting and throwing off the number of players disqualified. Other players wanting a shot will be allowed to enter the first round and it will be up to them to make up for lost time. Another way to get the lucky dog is if someone forfeits their place during or after a round. The second to last person gets the "lucky dog pass" This will keep the game flow steady and always loose 2 people after each map.

*F5 Rule System (Final Round)
First to 5. You have 5 lives each. Run out of lives your game is over. In this case, kill the Commander 5 times to win the Tournament. Think of the other Commander as the END BOSS.

**To allot teams to the final round according to when they were eliminated:
First player eliminated in the tourney goes to the lower scoring commander
second player eliminated goes to the higher scoring commander
third to the lower commander
fourth to the higher
...etc.

If someone disconnects, throwing off the order. Just adjust:
first goes to lower
second player disconnected
third to higher


Some rules and maps are subject to change, maps will be determined at a later date, you can request maps at certain times/rounds! Just let us know in this thread - just speak up!

After round 1 ended Doc connected. He gets to play but he doesn't get to have his score counted. He does get to participate in the final team game though and keep the rest of us on our toes in the other rounds!

Kudos go to my team mates in the final round! Zark, Ra, and FireWolf! I engaged in very limited combat and they won the battle for the team!

After Wrym's jump shooting reduced me to a mere shell, I crouched down and shut down my mech right at Team 2's shore line. I couldn't see anything except crawdads!

I spent the time as a little command bunker, typing out orders without a view of the battlefield. Lasers, gauss fire, and missiles streaked overhead!

I'm not sure if my typed "orders" did any good, but maybe it motivated my team to end the battle soon to escape the cluttered chat screen!

In the end, I saw Jack's madcat rush in front of me in a last ditch suicide run against our spawn! At that point I figured it was safe to powerup the battered hulk and managed to lay in a good broadside or two.

Props to FireWolf' and his Maddy for helping the team win in two tournaments! Ra's Nova lit up the field and fell many enemy mechs! And Zark's fearsome Daishi kept the enemy at bay and allowed me time to dig a hole in the mud to hide!

Much fun! Great games, all!

I don't know how we exactly did it. -- keepin you from getting killed hardly at all and all.
Hmm, probably one of those strategy things.

Bun and Jack, I have to say that having the TA at the end of the tourney is So great. It's refreshing to konw that even if I stink up the place and lose early, one of the team captains will still ahve to take me, lol!
