« Thread started on: Jul 2nd, 2009, 5:49pm »

New job and New PC finally! Hurray! grin

Two items needing help with:

Trying to set things up for Venge again but cannot find any working links for NO-CD PATCH?
Not here, not in the Coop, not on the web??

Secondly, I am unable to see any servers in game lobby??

Perplexed because MW Mercs is working fine online
That makes me want to eliminate issues such as porting - routers and firewalls. The only difference is that Mercs is using mektech not individual IP addresses such as Venge.

Me wants to play! - Me must play! - Me must have Solution!

Me needs your Help! lipsrsealed

ahhhh yes...I remember that feeling....the smell of a new PC....the excitement of powering it up the first time.....then..the realization Veng don't work on Vista!

See this link for the stuff I went through and the helpful suggestions folks had...may help:

http://wppc.conforums.com/index.cgi?board=Trouble&action=display&num=1238116151

ARGH!

1st) Calmly step away from the machine

2nd) If your PC is using Vista 64 bit......well...take two steps back...because MW4 Vengeance will not work on it.....if it's Vista 32....proceed to step 3

3rd) Make sure you have installed not only the game "As Admin" but also the PR3 patch

4th) You did install the PR3 patch for veng...right?

5th) Remember.....the coop and WPPC have all the patches!

No CD Crack: http://thecoop.conforums.com/index.cgi?board=Patches&action=display&num=1185588668

You need these maps too: http://thecoop.conforums.com/index.cgi?board=Maps&action=display&num=1183133952

oh....please btw...please draw your mouse to the very bottom of the main WPPC homepage..or the top of the page that the links to the coop take you........you will see several icons (orangey and got a big #4 on them....those are hot links to the various patches... grin

If you are still having Vista Install issues AND you are NOT using Vista 64...then Jack can prolly help you out.....he had to learn the hard way.

If you were like me, and bought Vista 64.......you get mad...cuss out load a lot...then plug the old machine back in and buy a KVM switch to toggle between the machines......oh...and you wait ....and wait for the free upgrade to Windows 7!

Good Luck!

Hey Yardbird!!! cheesy

Thanks for the speedy resque attempt!
My soup bowl was just about to spill -wahaaa!

Wow this feels like some kind of a dear John letter to my WPPC Venge friends. cry

Sad to say but both of our new PCs are vista 64 bit.
If I would have only known!!!! secondly the old ones have gone to PC heaven,... well back to my previous employer anyway.

No Venge on a 64bit well then no Venge for me till I come up with another solution. RATS AND DOUBLE RATS angry

Hey thanks for the Info though - guess I can still check out the forum to see how much fun you all are having. cry

Wow this sounds pitifull but I'll be back some day maybe on a cheap old machine - till then I'll just have to try and keep my pecker up like a Yardbird! Hehe.

I am hoping Windows 7 has some old 32 bit functionality that will allow us to play Veng on our machines...but I don't hold out much hope.......Have you looked into a used PC...I know I picked up a used PC running Win XP and a monitor for my kids under $100 dollars in the classifieds.

Look around...you might be surprised how cheap (or free even) you might find one.

All you really need is the tower...I bought a KVM switch so I can share the Keyboard, mouse and Monitor between the 2 machines cleanly.

OH...and PLEASE keep checking the boards here!....we are waiting for MP4 to come out (or AT1-BT even)...not to mention MWLL....those will work on Windows Vista 64!.....

Hang in there!

Just use the vista partition manager, really idiot proof to use, and install whatever you need to run MW, as long as you dont feel like getting it to work on 64x

Install XP or whatever onto your new partition, then youll have a bootloader at teh startup screen, and you can choose either xp or vista, this is really easy, im running XP and 7 on my little acer aspire one, and 7 and vista on my big laptop, really hassle free

Besides, dual booting operating systems helps with performance, if you virtualize you are running 2 OSes at once, which slows down your machine, its much better to just have two OS installs on your hard drive
(besides, since you have to install the OS in some form for virtualization anyways, theres no reason to not dual boot instead)
PS: MAKE SURE YOU USE NTFS WHEN YOU MAKE YOUR NEW PARTITION!!!!

EDIT: heres a guide for your situation, since i dont feel like going step by step, getting ready to go to arizona at 1Am

http://apcmag.com/how_to_dual_boot_vista_and_xp_with_vista_installed_first__the_stepbystep_guide.htm

EDIT 2: i would reccomend making your XP partition at least 100 gigs, since you have such a huge hard drive

Do this, but use the windows 7 beta instead (its free)
