xx Hosting behind a router (venge & general info..)
« Thread started on: Jan 5th, 2006, 8:50pm »

Well in light of everything that happend, I thought I would RE post some of the questions AND answers to help people if they ever have these problems.

Q> I'm trying to host and my server doesn't show up in ZONE. Why?

A> The router is blocking your server. You must open ports in your VIRTUAL SERVER or DMZ.

Enable Disable (click enabled)

Name MW Server port 1

Private IP 192.168.0.100 (or whatever the address of your server is)

Protocal Type Select both from the dropdown

Private Port 27999

Public Port 27999

click the radio/check box button for always

click submit and it will add the rule. Repeat this process for each of the ports. i.e.

Enable Disable (Click enabled)

Name MW Server port 2

Private IP 192.168.0.100 (or whatever the IP of your server is)

Protocal Type (Select Both from the dropdown)

Private Port 28805

Public Port 28805

click the radio button for always

click submit

Do this for the following information:

The following TCP ports must be open:
27999, 28805, 28806, 28807, 28808
47624 Inbound
2300-2400 Inbound

The following UDP port must be open:
28800

Q> I keep getting knocked off line when the other computer on my network connects to the same server.

A> Microsoft Sucks. Use this to get around that.
It's called DX port and it will let two or more computers use the direct play ports behind a router. Here is the link http://www.puffinsoft.com/

Q> That didn't work, I'm using clan and inner sphere packs. any help?

A> Microsoft Sucks, The key codes in the packs won't let you connect to a server that has the same key codes in it. You can try to A.) Buy more clan or inner sphere packs off the internet. B.) only use 1 of the packs on one computer at a time. C.) Go to google and google the phrase "Mech Warrior 4 Keygen"**warning you will run into the same problem as the last question. if someone else did the same download of the mekpaks, it will result in a "kicked" message...darn microsoft**

Q> Does Mercs use the same ports as venge?

A> I have no idea, I'm just worried about veng for the time being. grin

This is to get the ports on your computer used by your programs

Do the following,
1)Go to Start
2)Go to programs
3)Go to accessories
4)Go to command prompt
5)At the black screen, type in cd\ ,enter, then type cls, enter.
(this gets you to the root directory c prompt and then clears the screen)
6)Type netstat /? (there is a space between netstat and the /)

This will give you the list of available options for the netstat command.
To find out which ports are used for different programs you have to have the program running and then run netstat and the option you want. It gets confusing at times but you may find it easier to take screenshots before, during and after to compare the list you come up with. Play with it and you will see how it works. wink
