And now for spam news..

Barry the giant sea worm goes on the attack

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencete...oral-reef.html

Quote:
Aquarium staff have unearthed a 'giant sea' worm that was attacking coral reef and prize fish.

The 4ft long monster, named Barry, had launched a sustained attack on the reef in a display tank at Newquay's Blue Reef Aquarium over recent months.
Workers at the Cornwall-based attraction had been left scratching their heads as to why the coral had been left devastated and - in some cases - cut in half.

After staking out the display for several weeks, the last resort was to completely dismantle it, rock by rock.

Halfway through the process the predator was revealed as a four-foot polychaete worm.

The tropical worm is capable of inflicting permanent numbness on humans with its sting.
Matt Slater, the aquarium's curator, said: 'Something was guzzling our reef but we had no idea what, we also found an injured Tang Fish so we laid traps but they got ripped apart in the night.

'That worm must have obliterated the traps. The bait was full of hooks which he must have just digested.'

He added: 'It really does look like something out of a horror movie. It's over four feet long with these bizarre-looking jaws.

'We also discovered that he is covered with thousands of bristles which are capable of inflicting a sting resulting in permanent numbness.'
Mr Slater said Barry, who has now been relocated to his own tank, probably arrived as a juvenile in a delivery of living rock from another aquarium.

I'm going to have nightmares over that.. srsly..

Unrelated:

So we have a palm tree in the house. Just a small palm, well its been warm lately and I thought it could use some out doors weather to perk it right up. (it was drooping a bit). So I put it out on the porch earlier today. Tonight when we got home I decided to check on it because it got much cooler than I thought it would tonight. So after checking the tree out my eyes wandered to our kitchen window and I saw the outline of a large insect stuck on our window screen. I said "WHOA! I don't believe it! it must be almost summer! eheh" I looked closer and it looked very much like:

User Image

Your common Cicada! But its not even June! So I was thinking this big guy must just be early. And I began to go back inside... Then a little voice popped up in the back of my head..."you should take a closer look....." So when I shut the door I pulled up the kitchen window blind so that I could see the underbelly of the bug... To my horror... I learned it was not a cicada at all... rather....

Cicada Killer Hornet It eats cicadas and is native to TN

shocked

I cannot express my fear/hatred of this insect... Hornets srsly FREAK me out more than clowns... no kidding.. So as I withdrew from the window... I knew what I had to do... I had to kill this thing before it hunted me down and packed me off! So I got my best industrial bug killer out and I knew I would have one chance of spraying it before it might come after me... I sprayed 3 good pumps... and withdrew from the doorway back into the kitchen. There I watched the beast. It began to lose its footing, it then grabbed the nylon screen with his jaws.... and sliced right through the window screen! Over and over it bit each time making a new hole. It climbed up to the top of the screen and onto the next section of window that was not protected by a screen. *Clang, clang clang* The monster began chewing the metal lining around the windows. What a mean monster of death this creature is! Then, it looked at me in the eyes and let go. It fell to the ground where I'll probably find it in the morning when I work up the nerve to make sure its dead...

holy cow. I hope there are no more of them around here.....

I have to say... Chocolate Covered Bacon maybe more popular then you would first think.

User Image

About a year ago, we were watching this great show on the Food Network called "Dinner Impossible" and Iron Chef Mike Simon was the main Chef at these different catering events.
User Image

He is given the resources of what ever kitchen they have and what food he could find within the Stadium he was at.

He went around to all the different eateries there and got what ever they could spare and he needed a dessert!

What other then Cocolate Covered Bacon!!!huh

I was saying "WAFFLES!?" After running his bacon through a chocolate fountain machine and garnishing with toasted pecans or walnuts he let it harden at room temperature and it looked GREAT! I went from "WAFFELES!?" to "DO WANT NAO PLZ K THX BIE"!!!

HAHAAHA..If any of you follow that show you must know now that Chef Robert is back! The shows not the same without Mike Simon though.. but Chef Robert gives it the bad-arsed factor!
