Turkey Shoot Tournament.
DATE: 11-21-10
Time: 9ish10ish EST

@ 7est on the day of the tournament it has been decided by a vote that has lasted over a month that this tournament will be carried out in the "Master and Commander" style.

The rules are simple:
  • maps will be picked at random
  • players will be fighting 15 minute HLA Attrition games
  • chaining/grouping weapons is allowed
  • 5 rounds of Attrition then one round of Team Attrition
  • Points will be totaled up of all five rounds. The two players with the highest score become Team Commanders.
  • Top scorer decides their own team, either 1 or 2. A dice will then be rolled to determine even or odd. This will determine team mates for the two commanders.
  • Each player will have only 5 lives. The game ends when either the entire team is knocked out or just the commander is out of lives.

The Tournament starts at 9pm ESTish, Sunday, 11-21-10 .

Round 1: HLA Attrition. We launch with 8 players or more.
Round 2: HLA Attrition. Server is left unlocked.
Round 3: HLA Attrition. -
Round 4: HLA Attrition. -
Round 5: HLA Attrition. -
Round 6: HLA Team Attrition with 5 lives each. Server LOCKED.

Maps are:
TBA in the server with a map test deciding who has what. We keep what maps everyone has.

*Other rules and info*
Outline
Master & Commander. 5 Attrition rounds with point totaling for all players. Two top scorers become commanders. Final round is Team Attrition with a 5 life limit. KO the enemy commander 5 times to end the game or wipe out all enemy team. Decision of tactics depends on your commander. Follow their orders to victory.... or fail in defeat. Team is decided on a roll of the die with evens or odds. Top scorer decides his own team number and even or odd.

If the "no elimination" style is done again in the future, I think we need to clarify the point tallying system.

In the past, I believe that while no players were eliminated from game play, the bottom two players in a round had their points "frozen," meaning that their points in future rounds did not contribute to their overall score. I think that there should be a variation where all the points for all players are considered right up to the final round. Of course, it would mean more work, but an Excel Spreadsheet should help.

"Master and Commander" is the way we have been playing the final round in the recent tournaments. Everyone plays and points are tallied for each round. When all the preliminary rounds are finished, the pilots with the two highest scores become team captains. The final round is played as a Team Attrition battle with each player getting only 5 lives.

The duel is the"old school" tournament where two players are eliminated in each round until only two pilots are left. The final battle is waged between them in the Coliseum.

Yup, top two scorers become captains of a team. Game ends when a team captain loses all 5 lives or the entire team is knocked out. Duel is just that, 2 people alone in a the coliseum knocking the crap out of each other. Hehe.

As for points. I always did a tally of scorers that scored really high. At least 5k above the rest of the pack. At the end of the game (before final round) I round up all the top scorers. This is actually VERY accurate. If someone scored very very low.. it would be nearly impossible for them to become a commander... unless the people above them suffer the same problem. I would like to do the entire list but..... that is a LOT of work... I'd be willing to let someone help me though!

Maybe?

I voted, but now firepup wants to vote, but he doesn't have an acct on wppc.

He wants to vote for the NHUA duel.

Can his vote count?

(-even if he is voting for the wrong game type, grr)

no, lol. Have him sign up and vote properly. Reason is I don't want everyone to show up in the server and say "My cousin Earl wanted to vote for Escort NHUA with a duel but he isn't registered, his vote counts, right?" Nope. I gotta have something I can point at here to show folks what was actually decided on. Come on! It is free and you even get those neat pizza symbols lit up to show that there is new posts in each board. What could be better?!

I've heard from 2 people now that don't have accounts on here and want to vote. It has been 24 hours and I've seen no sign ups. Is there something wrong with signing up? If so please tell me so we can fix it.

Yep..I think Jack was acting like some of those wacky election officials this past election..."Sure ya can vote..if you can find the place..ehehehe"

Seriously...I think we should also have to restrict the voting to only those who actually play Veng...not just show up for tourneys....(eyes Spiff)

GAH! Thanks for fixing that man. I fixed the headers and footers earlier this month and I had to have screwed that up. "Jacked up" I suppose is the correct terminology seeing as how it was me that did it. lol.

So now! VOTE GUYS! And I apologize for the no sign up thing. I will LOCK VOTING ON SUNDAY AT 5PM EST TIME.

So get your votes in before then. There will be no "I wanted to vote but I didn't get there in time." Sorry! Oh and immediately after the tournament we will begin voting on Decembers tourny.
