Oh, I thought I could make a link that would take people to that file where they could download it.. (learning a bit more about the program now.. ic ic..) Bummer I have to set an email for each person.... I never get replies from Cannon's or Ra's emails.... bah.. Also, Hitty40 I think, no longer needs this link.. his game works great! His firewall is the issue. If he downloaded my game he would run into the exact same problem once he got online with it.

Hmmm.. back to this link... maybe I can email it to my self then post the link..... and the download should work as long as my pc stays on? How secure is this? Not that I have anything of importance on my pos dinosaur pc but hey..... don't want to be sending zombie messages to the space station or something...

Techsupport? You? *checks archives* It says here you've been part time tech guy since March of 07....... Yeah, I think your qualified! cheesy Besides... I got the dumb these days..

Jack, instead of using Dropbox, make a Zip file and upload it here.

I am gonna try to make this as clear as possible because this is a COMMON issue and some folks might be cornfuzed...(Spiff, Ra, Hitty.....)

If...and ONLY IF you are using a router...

TURN OF ALL SOFTWARE FIREWALLS!

this means Windows Firewall AND any 3rd Party firewalls (like McAffee)

It does not provide you ANY more protection having 3 doors that open with the same key....

and the crappy AV (like McAfee only causes issues with...er...everything.

Now if your are directly linked via a modem WITHOUT a router...then you should use your AV firewall..or Windows Firewall....

If you are not sure what a router is...(Looks sternly at Ra..) then snap a pic and post it along with make/model and we will tell ya what it is.

No, not really uptight, more like stressing out helpfully.

My router is a D-Link DIR-628 (http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=670)

My moden is A Motorola SBV5222 SURFboard Digital voice modem(And no, you can't actually talk to it)http://www.tvcinc.com/digital-voice/motorola-emtas/sbv5222-surfboard-digital-voice-modem/

- w00t! With that router I don't think you need a firewall on your pc.... the routers should be enough!

.........dad?

on topic - I spoke to SpiffCat today, he had the same exact problem with McAfee... Its actually the reason he quit using it. Even though it says it is off... it still screwed things up.... Now, I realize someone paid good money for that program... and I know that the license for it expires every year... I can say this with 100% certainty... do not renew your license for Macafail. It is hands down the worst antivirus/spyware/firewall protection you can get. Most FREE programs do a much better job of protecting your system and doesn't clog up your computer with problems like "I thought it was off! WTF? Why did that just get deleted?" If you can, I recommend uninstalling it just to try..

Uninstall McAfee, reboot.. Try mercs..
Mercs still gets deleted then something else is hiding in your pc that you don't know about.... reinstall McAfee...

I'm willing to bet money that uninstalling McAfee will fix your problem.. If your needing a good firewall/spyware/antivirus program I'm sure plenty of folks around here have oodles of free programs that will far exceed mac. I've bought 3 computers in the past 7 years.. 2 of which CAME WITH McAfee... I disabled and uninstalled it on day one, regardless if it came with a "years worth of free protection" After struggling with installing Mechwarrior for 2 hours I said "this program is horrible... good bye...."

I never looked back... Your choice but I will tempt you with this - MW4 Mercs has a HUGE online player base and the game was designed for online play... the one player campaign aint nothing compared to what you'll see out there.... there be monsters out there..... with practice... you can become one as well....

cool

I've seen bigger monsters. *Looks down pants*

<.<

And on top of that, how THE HELL am I supposed to install Mcafee if I uninstall it? My dad would get mad at me if I even attempt it.

Replace it with something better...

Heck,.even MS security essentials is better...and free from Microsoft

no kidding...

I will say this once more for the sake of Hitty...

McAfee is a virus you pay for...much like Norton......

in all fairness.....I cannot help you if you use McAfee......seriously...it's like a mole in the pentagon, a spy in the White House.....Please do you and your family and remove it and put something else ...like a free version of MICROSOFT SECURITY ESSENTIALS in place...

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=5201

McAfee is a paid virus..seriously.......IMHO
